In this sixth week, once again, our lecturer had to cancel the face to face class and replace it with an online class. Our lecturer provided a YouTube link and asked us to watch it. Therefore, I would like to share some interesting points from his video.
Universities play an important role in promoting sustainable development by serving as centers for education, research and community engagement. Their primary mission is to educate students, providing them with the knowledge, skills and values required to address the pressing challenges of sustainability.
In addition to education, universities promote sustainable development by doing pioneering research that provides innovative solutions to global problems. Plus, universities also serve as living labs by promoting sustainable practices on their campuses such as reducing carbon footprints, promoting energy efficiency, conserving water and others.
Beyond the academic field, universities also engage with communities, industries and governments to promote sustainable development goals (SDGs) through collaboration and knowledge sharing.
