This week, after a long week of mid semester break, our classes started as usual. This week, we discussed about the topic, "Role of Institutions for Sustainable Development". We gained a lot of input and information about it from our discussions with our lecturers this week.
As well known, institutions play an important role in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially Goals 16 and 17, which deal with peace, justice and global partnerships. At the global level, organizations like the United Nations Sustainable Development Group (UNSDG) coordinate efforts to address cross-border challenges, such as health, environmental issues, and equitable trade. At the national or local scale, countries aligned their policies with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by creating a frameworks, such as Malaysia's integration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into its development plans.
Besides institutions, individuals also have an important role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by adopting sustainable practices, raising awareness and fostering key skills. Critical thinking, good communication, teamwork and social responsibility are all required to drive change. With them, individuals are able to create a more sustainable and fair future, and the spirit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can be infused into daily life in the future.
